The Lei Feng Spirit

The lofty ideal and firm belief of loving the Party, the motherland and socialism; the devotion spirit of serving the people and helping others, the strong sense of dedication to work in a sector of professionalism; the innovative spirit of enterprising and self-improvement; the pioneering spirit of hard work and thrift.

The Lei Feng spirit is a kind of spiritual realm embodied in Lei Feng’s great practice of serving the people. It is not only a theoretical summary of Lei Feng’s advanced thoughts, moral values and noble qualities expressed in his words, deeds, but also a spiritual culture, named after Lei Feng, with Lei Feng’s noble qualities as its basic connotation, which is constantly enriched and developed in practice, and is admired and pursued by people.

Lei Feng is a soldier with advanced thoughts and an ordinary member of Chinese Communist Party. Unfortunately, he died on duty on August 15, 1962. He was only 22 years old at that time. In his short life, he used practical actions to keep his promise of being loyal to the revolution and the Party and devoting his limited life to serving the people forever. Greatness is forged in the ordinary. The Lei Feng spirit is the spirit of being devoted to work, working hard to study and struggling to life, as well as the dedication spirit of loving the party, the country and the people. It includes Lei’s class position, the revolutionary spirit of consistency between words and deeds, the Communist style of selflessness, the fighting spirit of the proletariat and the nail spirit of hard study. Lei Fen’s spirit is a great national spirit of unity, peace loving, hardworking, bravery and self-improvement with patriotism as its core. Chairman Mao Zedong made an inscription for Lei Feng on March 5, 1963: Learning from Comrade Lei Feng, which raised the climax of learning Lei Feng’s Spirit in the whole country. General Secretary Xi Jinping said, “The Lei Feng spirit is eternal and a vivid manifestation of the core socialist values.” 

    热爱党、热爱祖国、热爱社会主义的崇高理想和坚定信念；服务人民，助人为乐的奉献精神；干一行爱一行、专一行精一行的敬业精神；锐意进取、自强不息的创新精神；艰苦奋斗、勤俭节约的创业精神。

    雷锋精神是雷锋在为人民服务的伟大实践中体现出来的一种精神境界，既是对雷锋的言行和事迹所表现出来的先进思想、道德观和崇高品质的理论概括和总结，也是以雷锋的名字命名的、以雷锋的崇高品质为基本内涵的、在实践中不断丰富和发展着的，为人们所敬仰的和追求的精神文化。雷锋是一名新时代军人，普通的共产党员，1962年8月15日不幸因公殉职，年仅22岁。在短暂的一生中，他用实际行动践行“忠于革命，忠于党”“把有限的生命，投入到无限的为人民服务中去”的誓言，在平凡中抒写伟大。雷锋精神体现了工作上的忠于职守、学习上刻苦钻研、生活上艰苦奋斗的向上精神和爱党、爱国、爱民、奉献的向善精神，包含了爱憎分明的阶级立场、言行一致的革命精神、公而忘私的共产主义风格、奋不顾身的无产阶级斗志、刻苦学习的钉子精神等内容，是一种以爱国主义为核心的团结统一爱好和平勤劳勇敢自强不息的伟大民族精神。1963年3月5日毛主席题词：向雷锋同志学习，在全国上下掀起学雷锋的高潮，习近平总书记说：雷锋精神是永恒的，是社会主义核心价值观的生动体现。
